SIMBA makes available the main components of activated sludge wastewater treatment plants as blocks in a library for simulation using the MATLAB/SIMULINK system.

The main library also contains several control and display blocks as well as some of the most frequently required SIMULINK blocks. These may also be used in all models. These blocks can be arranged as desired, depending on the technology of the plant to be modelled and the model approach. Altogether the blocks can be divided into the following groups:

• Data input (influent, import from data base etc.),
• Settlement tanks (primary and secondary clarifiers),
• Flows of wastewater and sludge,
• Reactors and storage blocks,
• Data output (recording, displaying),
• Measurement (measurement blocks for concentrations and flow rate),
• SIMULINK blocks (selection of frequently required SIMULINK blocks),
• Other blocks (SIMBA displaying block, block for starting MATLAB scripts).
